PROMETHEUS
by MORITZ WALDEMEYER
Prometheus contemplates humanity’s enduring fascination with fire, an organic force that creates even as it destroys. The work combines cast glass, wood, silicon, and electricity, materials that reflect both the transformative and destructive powers of flame. Referencing the myth of Prometheus, who stole fire from the gods and breathed life into clay with Athena’s aid, the piece engages with the cultural history of creation. Its layered media evoke parallels with the alchemy of glassmaking, where material, heat, and process merge to bring form to life.
