Nestled within a private estate in Surrey, the Music Pavilion offers a unique sensory experience, blending cutting-edge technology with refined interior architecture. Designed by SHH and realised by Ideaworks, the space explores how acoustic, lighting, and shading systems can shape the emotional and functional dynamics of a domestic environment.

At the centre of this atmosphere is Momento by Nao Tamura — a suspended hand-blown glass work evoking the stillness of a falling droplet caught in time. Its organic form reflects the quietude of the Pavilion, while its delicate translucency responds to the curated lighting conditions, shifting in tone throughout the day.

Momento becomes an instrument of perception within the room, a visual echo of the Pavilion’s soundscape, crafted to subtly enhance the meditative rhythm of the space. The work speaks to the fragility of presence and the interplay between time, technology, and material.

The installation forms an integral part of the Pavilion’s immersive landscape — a convergence of design, technology, and sensory refinement. Acting as a spatial and emotional anchor, Momento draws together the architectural narrative and experiential intent of the project, offering a moment of quiet reflection within an otherwise dynamic, multi-sensory environment.
